Gaming can be helpful to real life. It may seem like a bunch of fun and games but, while your playing you need to have fast decision making skills.
In the video, Jane is a game designer. Her speech pretty much sums up the question "What if we could harness this gamer power to solve real world problems?" Jane creates games that relate to our real world situations, such as running out of oil. She explains how these types of games affect us physically and mentally. Like when you are about to level up, your facial expression changes and you release happiness. Also she goes into the history of gaming. Like how in ancient times they used games to settle arguments and distract them from a current famine. But what she means by gaming is not only electronically but in other ways such as dice.
I really liked this talk because it comes from an actual gamer and she can relate. For example, she stated, we don't face failure the same as we do in video games, then in real life. That really hit me and I thought about it for a while. Whenever we come to a bad situation we don't always find the confidence to face it. But, in video games if you fail, don't worry because you can start again. Then you can overcome it. In other words the topic; "In the gaming world we are the best versions of ourselfs." Is pretty much legit. Something about being behind a screen makes us self-assured, and helps social relationships and boosts self esteem.
I recommend watching this video to all the gamers out there, because not all gamers are geeks and socially awkward. This video shows the outcome of most gamers and how they use their skills in the future, and formulate a career out of it.
